Going Beyond ODBC

Date: January 23rd, 2009

Currently we are working with a new product that enables us to use Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) to Eloquence databases. This gives us the ability to natively communicate with Eloquence data directly from computer systems running Microsoft Windows.

So what does this mean for you, our customers?

  1. We can use OLE to build new Windows applications that use your Eloquence data on your HP 9000 for Windows based reporting.
  2. We can build applications that allow exporting of data directly to Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PDF, etc.
  3. We can extract and import data more easily for handling transfers to and from WaterAccount.com and third party applications.
  4. Data linking to Microsoft SQL becomes possible.
  5. Transferring data from Eloquence into Microsoft SQL becomes possible.

The first project we are working on using OLE is a reporting application with Crystal Reports and VB.NET. This application will create graphical reports and data export data. The application will allow you to use a Windows based graphics application to generate reports on Windows with color, graphics, and graphing abilities. Users will also be able to export reports and data to popular formats such as PDF, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and more.

Please check back in the future for updates on our progress on this project.
